7月17日 Close Call. To being arrested. So we're at this youth group thing at our local pool. Some of us already went in and put our stuff down. Unfortunately, there was lightning so we couldn't swim, and the manager went home. After several hours of volleyball, we were all about to leave, but me and one of my friends, let's call him Fabio, or whatever name you want, decided to climb the fence because our stuff was locked in there. This is where it gets interesting. I saw the cops drive by, and I guess he saw us. We instinctively dove to the ground, but cops' flashlights are really bright. This is a condensed version of the following conversation.
Cop: What are you boys doing?
Fabio: We're with a youth group that was supposed to be swimming, but our stuff got locked in here.
Cop: Get out of there the way you came in.
we climbed over on a different route than the one we came in
Cop: What you were doing was trespassing, a crime punishable by jail if you are old enough
fabio and I hang our heads, doing our best to look ashamed
Cop: I won't give you a ticket, but I don't want to see it happen again
fabio and I now do our best to suck up and sound grateful. The cop asks us our names, having difficulty spelling fabio's last name and my first name. We walk away with sheepish smiles on faces thought to be chagrined by our friendly neighborhood policeman.
Fabio: That was a close call.
Jed: Yeah. Here begins my life of crime.
and thus is the fate of this story. despite my christian values and morals, my flawless record, and my stunning academic skills, I will most likely end up in jail the rest of my life, addicted to countless drugs, feared by all who encounter me. Or so says a former guidace counselor of mine.
Needless to say, "Fabio" and I now strangely seem to be much closer. Maybe it's a sign that we'll share a cell together... 评论 (5)
